The alkaline mixture as a reagent is introduced in absorber and brought into contact with flue gases containing SO2. Insoluble sul-fates and sulfites (CaSO4 and CaSO3) formed in the reaction are removed as sludge. Gas, purified after pas-sing through the separator, is released to the atmo-sphere. Used sludge from absorber is sent to the reac-tion tank, then to a dewatering stage where water is removed and finally to the landfill.
